About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) specializing in billing, to join our dynamic construction team in Kolkata. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing contract administration, measurement, and preparation of the Bill of Quantities (BOQ), ensuring that project costs are effectively controlled and accurately reported.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and manage the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for various construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations.
Conduct regular measurements and evaluations of work done on-site, maintaining precise records for billing purposes.
Analyze and prepare rates for various items of work, facilitating effective cost management and project budgeting.
Administer contracts, ensuring that all terms and conditions are met and that the project stays on schedule and within budget.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to provide timely and accurate financial reports and forecasts.
Review and negotiate claims and variations, ensuring proper documentation and justifications for any changes in scope or costs.
Utilize project management software, including MS Excel, AutoCAD, and Primavera, to enhance project tracking and reporting.
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential cost overruns and project delays.
Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in construction and quantity surveying.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying and billing within the construction sector.
Proven experience in contract administration and managing large-scale construction projects.
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional certification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., MRICS or similar).
Experience in using advanced project management software and tools.
Knowledge of local construction laws, regulations, and practices specific to the Kolkata region.
Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and cost-effective solutions.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in MS Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
Expertise in AutoCAD for interpreting and preparing construction drawings.
Experience with Primavera or similar project scheduling software.
Strong understanding of measurement standards and BOQ preparation techniques.
Familiarity with contract management software and tools.
